Register by 2/17 to secure a spot in this year’s competition.
Calling all Rhode Island hardware companies: the National Hardware Cup is back and the Northeast regional competition will be held in Boston on February 28. Competitors will pitch to a panel of judges and the winner will be guaranteed a spot in the National Competition later this spring, when $100K+ in prizes will be awarded.
The Hardware Cup is hosted by Pittsburgh-based hardware accelerator AlphaLab Gear, which created the competition in 2015 to showcase emerging hardware companies from across the country. To crown the national winner, Hardware Cup organizers are holding regional competitions in Pittsburgh, Boston, Washington D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, Austin, and Ft. Lauderdale. Bonus: the 2017 cup is going international and teams from South Korea, Japan, and Canada will send their best competitors to the finals in Pittsburgh on April 19-20, 2017.
If you are a Rhode Island-based company you’ll see a familiar face at the judges table: Betaspring Managing Director Melissa Withers will be one of three judges selecting the company that will represent New England at the finals. So bring your A-game!
Not ready to pitch? You should still attend. The event will kick off with a killer panel on "How to Build a Successful Hardware Startup." Attendees will also have the chance to talk with the companies pitching and get a closer look at what the contenders are up to.
The Boston competition will accept applications through February 17 so don’t procrastinate! (NOTE: Despite the date shown on the website and application, the organizers have informed us that they have extended the deadline until the 17th).
